Crowler from brewery. Pale golden, straw color with a small white foamy head. Grassy, graint aroma with light floral notes. Taste is sweet, clean malts, grassy, hay. Light.

crazy this little place had three pale lagers on tap at one time, this one was decent but unremarkable, except that its stronger in alcohol than a lot of these, which is not evident when you drink it, but drinking a half dozen of these thinking they were in the standard 4% abv range would have you calling a cab. the is clear and golden colored, the head is short and short lived, but its not short on bubbles. it smells fresh and grain forward, almost corn based and a little sweet to me, but not in a cheap or bad way, its just really minimal on the hops so the grain really stands out. the yeast is pretty minimal, but they did a better job with the fermentation here than they did in their foggy pils, which left a lot to be desired in terms of the ferment. this is clean enough, short of crisp but this is plenty drinkable beer. ever so slightly floral from the hops, off dry, and bold enough to not be overwhelmed by their excellent food in here. i can respect these guys on this one, as they seem to be in pursuit of just the perfect lager. this is obviously an ongoing project, but this is drinkable and without any real evident flaws at all. maybe the most approachable brew on their menu.

edit: revisiting this one from the pint can many years later, spring of 2026 now, more german to me, crisper and cleaner, somewhat more grown up, and also reduced on the alcohol a little bit now, my can says 5.5% abv, so a little more in line. this is basic stuff, not their most compelling beer ive had recently, but a beer flavored beer thats well made and should be a hit with just about any beer drinker. improving the overall score slightly to reflect the higher refinement. refreshing on one of the first nice days of spring.
