Pours dark and thin, little head, well carbonated. Bourbon is present, but not overpowering. So many flavors, hard to describe. Mouthfeel is too thin for my liking. Alcohol is strong. What this RIS has going for it is the complex and pleasant flavor profile.

On tap at the Surf 'N' Suds Beer Festival held at Carpenteria State Beach in Carpenteria, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, cookie dough, earth, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, cookie dough, earth, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and dangerously drinkable for its high ABV.
Serving type: on tap.
