Bottle 69 of 540
Had at Randy's Tap Room in Solvang, CA
I had this bottle after day of wine tasting, so I apologize if I was suffering from flight effects.
Poured into shaker pint. The beer poured out a dark brown/black color with a dark head and little head retention. The aroma had oak and roasted malt. From the aroma, I was expecting an oak barrel stout experience but the roasted flavor and the oak were both more subdued than I expected and the malt flavor was more prominent. The hops were more present as a nice bitterness than as a flavor. The texture was smooth and pleasing.
I really enjoyed this beer and regretted that shipping costs are so prohibitive to send beer or wine home when touring.

Bottle pour at the BevMo Holiday Beerfest held at Golden Road Brewing in Los Angeles, CA.
Bottle #401/540.
Pours a murky dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, bourbon, and wood. Taste is much the same with a mild roasty and hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a great smell and some really solid flavors.
