Cue the flickering, fading neon lights. Our double IPA begins the night in a wet Hull Melon whirlpool, and ends dry-hopped abundantly and ferociously with Vic Secret. Smooth and surprisingly clean. Come on in.

A hazy but bright golden color with some yellow and white hues. A frothy white topping stands up proud, fades to a minimal, scattered foam covering. Solid ring.
Brash hull melon hoppy aromatics hit us first, both very herbal and yet piney. The Vic Secret dry hopped tones are of grainy, sour earth, high toned citrus, and starfruit. The malt had a light, crispy edgebut with a hint of honey sweetness as well.
The hoppy based flavor starts out a bit hot and spicy, big herbs, spices and black pepper that rides over golden wheat and crispy grains from the light malted barley side. The alcohol heat is pretty big and rough at 8.3 % abv, but the heat is quickly intensified by the earthy, pepper, dry-hopped sharp edges of the Vic Secret hop which brings in a serious amount of high-alpha style pine.
Light to medium bodied feel, very crisp,hot, then juicy with some very nice dryness in the finish. The high end of the hop flavor spectrum has many layers of earth/pepper/grains but also some sharp, citrus, edgy grapefruit and honeydew melon tones. Complexity and depth of flavor is medium to high end on my scale.
Keene has needed a boost of exciting new locally brewed beers, especially in the New England ipa style landscape. Branch and Blade seems to be the dose of quality and experimentation this sleepy New England town has needed.
