From a 16oz can, purchased at the brewpub a few weeks ago....

Pours a murky, muted, very hazy golden-straw color. Has a creamy but thin off-white head, mostly clinging to the glass. Lacing is fairly solid. Aroma is replete with tropical fruit and dank notes. Body is a solid medium-plus, and the feel is soft and smooth.

Flavor has a varied mix of fruit all around.... there's apricot and tangerine, grapefruit and peach, melon and pineapple. Also has a pithy, dank, earthy finish. Quite tasty and drinkable. Prosit!!

I have long been at least somewhat of a fan of Branch and Blade Brewing, though I don't follow their beer as closely as I probably could. I think they're kind of between "batchy" and "consistent" when it comes to smaller NH breweries, though they have done some very good collaborative beers lately. I'm hoping this is one of them, as this was apparently done with Heist Brewery out of North Carolina. EoU is a triple IPA clocking in at 10.5% ABV and featuring Strata, El Dorado, and Zamba hops.

The pour here is pretty nice, beginning its life in my glass as a nearly-opaque (but not chalky-looking) orange-golden ale that quickly builds up a well-defined and consistent head of shiny white foam that lingers for a bit at two fingers before sinking to a thin ring with good legs that also leaves behind some vestiges of soapy lace that hang around for a while after each small sip.

This is a pretty cool hop combo, and I think Strata may be one of the best hops out there (at least conceptually) for a triple IPA; it's got a ton of oil and lots of complexity that can really show up in higher ABV beers with a big dry-hop addition. I've enjoyed some Strata-focused DIPAs and whatnot, but I will say that I think its intense cannabis/passion fruit/tangelo components really come across in something like this. I've only had one other beer featuring Zamba so far, but I was not impressed with the beer itself... here, I think it seems to play a role with a hint of herbs and apricot that bounces off the aggression from Strata pretty well. El Dorado has its unique pineapple/mango/melon thing going on here, too, and feels decently well-integrated.

This is wayyy drinkable for a 10.5% IPA, jeez. Flavors of complex stone fruit (apricot/nectarine/peach) with hints of cherry, almond, oaty maltiness, grassiness, dankness, and passion fruit combine with hints of tangelo and grapefruit toward the finish. The soft and silky feel on order belies the strength of the beer in a major way, that's for sure. I'm definitely enjoying this; there's a lot going on, but it doesn't feel overly-aggro or over-compensating like many TIPAs, nor does it feel wildly out-of-range with regards to its hop profile... everything here feels smartly-placed and has a purpose that works towards a unified goal. I'm a fan. Could've been a lot worse, that's for sure. Would drink again; stupidly crushable for what it is... dangerous!

16oz undated can.

Pours cloudy gold with a half inch head of white. Pungent stonefruit in the nose with grapefruit and hard peaches. Medium bodied with a soft but tacky mouthfeel. Agressively hopped on the palate with minimal malt but a firm bitterness. Pithy grapefruit and zesty citrus. Finishes a bit rough but not sweet or boozy.
