We always have a great time down in Miami and we decided to bring some of that fun back north. The crew at Tripping Animals not only makes amazing beer, they're great people and a blast to hang out with (they also host some pretty awesome festivals). For this collaborative brew, we made a DIPA recipe with pilsner malt and tons of fluffy oats. we couldnʼt dry hop just once, so this is double dry hopped with citra and simcoe.

Received a couple of cans while volunteering at the Free The Whales festival from Trevor the brewer for Branch and Blade 7-1-23. Canned 6-22-23; consumed 7-23-23.
Beer poured hazy orange with a nice white head with the original pour.
Nose is very nice, full of fresh tropical and citrus fruit.
Taste is very nicely done. Light but substantial malt base displays the hopping that gives me notes of orange, mango, and passion fruit. Finishes with a subtly hopped with a touch of pine leading to a balanced finish; 5/10 on my bitterness scale.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and very smooth from the oatmeal addition.
Overall a very nice easy drinking DIPA. I hope i can visit the brewery next week while staying in Vermont.

From a 16oz can, dated 06/22/23. Served in a spiegelau IPA glass.
Pours a thoroughly opaque, thick-appearing mango-gold with two fingers of soft, lather-like suds. The head holds up for maybe 20 seconds, collapsing into a spit-like cap and a few spatters of bubbly lacing.
Nose is faint but nice. cake-like, mildly sweet and fruity. Aroma of cupcake and orange peel.
Taste is earthy, fruity, dense. Tasting oily orange peel, overripe peach, citron and apricot, with a sort of dense, damp fruit cake-like character. There’s a hint of lemon and turpy pine, more in the sinuses than on the palate.
Feel is thick and juicy, moderately full bodied with fine but over-gentle carbonation. A bit lifeless in the glass tbh.
Overall, a mixed bag inasmuch as, although it was undeniably tasty, it was also fairly heavy on the palate and in the belly - a few more bubbles would not have been amiss.
