Why are Deloreans the ideal vehicle for time travel? There’s no way to know for sure. But, what is known is that citrus-forward hops, pineapple, and milk sugar combine to create a beverage that sends the drinker on a delicious, tropical excursion. One of our more whimsical IPA expressions, Enchantment Under the Sea brings notes of mango, papaya, and mandarin orange to the surface, where they marry flawlessly with pineapple added during secondary fermentation.

Canned 01/03/19.

A nice hazy golden pour, not completely opaque but with a nice resonating hue. Silky white foam settles at about a finger in height and leaves behind minimal lacing as it settles.

The nose on this is all sweet citrus initially, but transforms slowly into a very pineapple-forward aroma, with the lactose imparting the slightest hint of vanilla as the beer warms slightly. Not much of a hop presence is found at all.

The flavors here were a nice balance. Again, a predominance of pineapple, bittered slightly by a piney hop presence that cuts through. Not overwhelming, and with underlying notes of citrus to mellow it out further.

Creamy smooth mouthfeel, the lactose does wonders here. Medium carbonation and a sticky finish make for a smooth, tasty, balanced IPA.

16oz can from Greenville Beer Exchange (Greenville, SC). 3.75. No apparent canning information. Served in an oversized Bruery snifter. Enjoyed 6/19/18.

Pours an opaque, muted pale yellow with just under two fingers of fluffy white head. Good retention and lacing.

Distant-seeming aromas of pineapple core, orange peel, a mild sweetness and a little bread.

The flavors seem a bit muted and more mellow than would be preferable. A kinda vague pineapple, a little melon-like quality, citrus and some light biscuity sweetness.

Smooth feel with moderate carbonation. The finish is mildly bitter with faint hints of tropical and citrusy hops.

Well the description seemed right up my alley so I took a chance on an undated can from Edmund’s Oast. I’m not convinced this can was fresh and found Enchantment Under The Sea to be a bit weak. Maybe if known to be fresh or on tap I’d try it again but this was not an experience I care to repeat.

L: Had this on-tap at Edmund's Oast, poured into a snifter glass. Had a golden yellow color and a slightly hazy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent sticky lacing.

S: A sweet and fruity aroma of hops, citrus fruit, malt, and tropical fruit.

T: Tasted of a small amount of malt (mostly in the finish), lots of citrus fruit (orange, in particular), a decent amount of hops (not too much, though), and a good shot of tropical fruit (pineapple, mango). A much more balanced flavor than I expected. The fruit ingredients are very much the star, but the hops compliment them well.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a slightly slick finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: This is a good light and sweet IPA. Definitely drinkable.

Very good head production, with an easy two fingers of firm snow-white foam. Excellent retention, as well. Body is a hazy, pale lemon yellow.

Surprisingly dank nose, along with plenty of juicy notes of pineapple, papaya, and berries. A little pine and mandarin orange round out the profile.

Flavor doesn't quite match up. Leafy and green, only mildly dank, but not particularly juicy, either. The pineapple adds a slight sourness that isn't really welcome here. Light cracker malt base, implying wheat, hay, and very light honey, but the hops are the real show here: and it's a show that disappoints, honestly.

Lighter and thinner on the palate than expected. Not much of a NE-style IPA in any part of its expression.

Pours hazy light gold. Thick, medium Whitehead the Fades slowly with lacing.

Smells pineapple, mango, tropical, orange, papaya, bready malt and Peach.

Taste candied orange, pineapple, orange, mango, Bready malt and Peach. Finishes dry with citrus peel linger. Medium body and smooth medium carbonation.

Pours a light gold with a one inch white head that was very well retained and left excellent lacing. Smells of tropical and citrus fruits. Tastes of under ripe pineapple, mango, tangerine, orange zest and lactose sweetness. Medium bodied and carbonated, very mild bitterness, creamy mouth feel.

Pale gold and hazy with some visible fine sediment drifting around... Features lactose and pineapple; no canning date... Fruity, with about as much citrus as pineapple, giving it a tangy, bright character; moderately sweet with something of a powdery pineapple pixie dust sweetness...... Bitterness is mild, but maybe with something of a light tack lingering after the sip... Medium-weight with moderate carbonation... I just had a lactose and pineapple IPA recently, You Lucky People You, from Moustache Brewing - although that also featured oats and vanilla - and, for the record, I liked it a little more... Regardless, this is a really nice beer...

No canning date.

Pours a hazy light gold with a beautiful two-finger white head holding some impressive longevity and plenty of lacing.

Aromas of bright pineapple, orange zest, and ripe, tart grapefruit juice; a pillowy soft lactic sweetness comes in toward the finish.

Taste of bitter pineapple rind, grapefruit juice, slight papaya, and with tiny bits of lactic elements at play in-between; it feels disordered at times, and I'm surprised at how tart this is for an IPA.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied, crisp, and rather juicy; clean on the finish, as well, in spite of sticking around on the palate at times.

An interesting concept in this one that just didn't come together for me; all the elements were seemingly in place, but never fully formed in any meaningful way fue to the tartness. In spite of this, it's still an easy drink at 7%, and I certainly can't fault it there; just wish there was more to it.

A: The beer is hazy light yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that hardly died down.
S: Light aromas of mangos and papayas are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has slightly stronger flavors of mangos with notes of papayas. No bitterness is present.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is detectable.
O: The smell and taste of the beer are a little subdued compared to other IPAs but it is easy to drink.
