On tap at brewery:
Pours a little darker than expected, deep amber, but clear. Off-white head showed some lacing.
Nose is weird as there’s a caramel to near raisin aspect to it. There’s actually a little spice, evoking a corn whiskey (though nowhere near as powerful), which slowly mellows to a slight creamed corn note.
Taste follows with some caramel, and there is a hint of dark fruit. The darker notes actually have me thinking like a bock or dubbel. Feel is smooth but not too light, with a little bite.
I didn’t mind drinking this beer at all, but there’s a bit about it that seems out of place for the style.
