On tap at brewery:
Pours a deep chestnut, clarity obvious at edges. Head is easy to create, but retreats to the rim fairly quickly.
Nose initially had an unsweetened cola aspect, but that wasn’t really lasting. The nose is light, but there’s a dark toasted aspect and even a little nuttiness. The scents grew on me, but have some similarities to a robust nut brown.
Taste does start with an earthy cola aspect, but shifts to a little nutty before mid-taste. Slowly, what I’m used to for a porter starts to show - light roasted coffee, bitterness perhaps aided by some earthy or woody hops.
Little too fizzy on feel, and I’d like to get to the classic roast bitterness a little quicker, but not too bad.
