On tap at brewery:
Pours amber with a soapy-ish white head. Sorta has a spit-like look to it atop the beer, but it lasts and produces a little fleeting lacing.

Nose is lightly browned bread, with a little caramel malt presence. The somewhat floral pine wood aspects have me expecting a bitter beer - as if the sogn’s proclamation of 101 IBU and barkeep’s proclamation of this being their most bitter weren’t enough.

Caramel malt comes cleanly, shying away from its sweeter side a bit. Lightly earthy, the pine wood comes next, eventually branching out to more of a dark pine needle bitterness. There’s a little hint of grapefruit pith in that little journey from trunk to leaf.

Medium body, treading towards medium light, but the bold bitterness props up the mouthfeel.

A more classic NW IPA, IMO. The body/feel are a little off for the full-on effect, but definitely go in thinking that more than any east coast version. I might even say it is similar to a mildly bold ESB.
