Maple Blueberry Stout

Pours to a thin head, sits with a razor thin ring that is stubborn to stay that way. Body is very dark but discernibly brown. Nose of maple came as I poured, with some chocolate added as I got closer. However, getting too deep reveals a bit of an alcoholic or vapor that I am glad I can avoid by repeating the sniffing technique. Taste has a bit of bite that might be the same cause as the biting aroma - perhaps some fusel notes that are tamped by the roast and moderate sweetness? Here, too, it comes more as a distraction than a detraction to me. Blueberry comes through that moderate sweetness that may be from the maple but doesn't identify itself too clearly to me, as well as the more dominant dark chocolate roasted malt notes. A bit of a good and questionable on this one, but it works well enough for me in this tasting.
