Taster at brewery. Dark brown pour, ring of head. Sweet malty aroma, raisins. Taste not as sweet as the aroma, roasty, chocolate, pit fruit, nutty, smooth.

On tap at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small white head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like roasted malt, lots of dark fruit, and some caramel.
I don’t really like this at all. There’s some decent breadiness and caramel, and a distinct roasted note that’s not super common for the style, I would think. However, there’s just so much dark fruit here, it’s almost tart, even especially as it warms. It’s such an unpleasant and (probably) unintended combination of flavors. I usually finish beers, good or bad, but I couldn’t even get through half of the glass.
This is medium bodied, with a very low level of drinkability.
I’m not sure if this flavor profile was on purpose. Nonetheless, this was a mess.
