Well this is kind of a bummer of a review. Everything else I've had from Del Cielo was pretty decent. This one wasn't, which especially sucks because it is the first review written for this beer at this Next Glass owned database. Advocacy, forever, maybe.
Pours that familiar dark golden color with respectable amounts of clarity to it. West coast subgenre up in here, up in here. 1/4" white head. The aroma was quite lacking, even if there is an ipa with just bittering hops, I won't hit it this hard score wise, but this smelled old and bad bittering hops. Claims of Strata didn't pan out. And I really like Chinook and Simcoe, but it came off as old socks.
The taste was somehow worse. It was a twangy bitterness that wasn't indicative of any of the hops normally. Were these like 3 harvests ago or something? I just hit a button, shit. The malt body was also very woody and twangy, just a real shockingly bad beer. Still recommend this brewery, have to belief this was just an off moment.
I couldn't even finish the full pour, that is a super rarity at this event. Like maybe 1-2% tops ever had that happen. 23rd annual dipa festival.
