With patience and time, what started out as one beer transformed into something else entirely - a delicatly bitter hoppy saison. The offical beer of Tulip Town!

Clear, golden look; lots of lively carbonation bubbles; thick, lasting head, white and semi-creamy. Nice aroma; elements of honey and floral notes; fresh apple; a slight caramel edge. A bit of citrus punch in the flavor; some green apple; cardboard; dull and watery. Medium body; bold carbonation prickliness on the palate; some juiciness, some dryness.
The beer has great looks for a saison and the smell comes across as promising, but the taste is rather flat and weak. Perhaps its age can be the reason as it's about 3 1/2 years old.
Pouring temperature: 48 °F; bottling info: Bottled January 30, 2019

Cloudy faded hay colored pour with a sudsy cream cap. Smell has rustic yeast with floral and hay accents, some wild funk in the background but busied by the honey. Taste is composed of two parts: rustic yeast with light botanicals and super sweet honey and lemon. Funk emerges as it warms, but just tastes messy. Feel is complex though with the yeast, honey, hop, and funk textures, but the finish isn't intentional. More interesting than good

A: The beer is clear and a bit pale yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge and a large patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of yeast are present in the nose along with a bit of funk.
T: The taste follows the smell and mostly has flavors of yeast along with slight bits of funk.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and rather effervescent on the palate.
O: I liked the delicate aromas and flavors of funk in this saison. It was very easy to drink.

First edition, Bottled January 30, 2019. 750 bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a beautiful medium-dark gold gold color with 2/3 inch of white head that quickly dissipated, and left no lacing.
Nice yeast spice popped right out as soon as the cap was popped, with nice earthy grains in support.
Similar on the tongue, the yeast/funk of native Skagitonian bugs was dominant, but the locally grown and malted grains were what held things up.
The body was light, crisp, smooth, and had a dry finish, but could have used a bit more carb.
Drinkability was great, I didn't get the least bit bored throughout the bottle.
Overall, another very nice brew from these fermentation experts. Try it if you can.
