Canned on 3/13/21; consumed on 4/12/21
Pours a totally opaque, burnt orange body capped with two fingers of fluffy, rocky, white foam; good head retention leaves a thin layer of frothy cap, a moderate, creamy, bubbly collar, and a comprehensive walling of spotty, soapy lacing caking the walls of the glass.
Aroma bursts forth with waves of orange marmalade and sticky mango, trickling into notes of banana bubblegum and silky, lush guava before a gummy bear medley crosses the center of the bouquet; underripe lychee offers an almost waxy, white grape-type earthiness to the back end before a fresh, grassy hop grit eases through the close.
Taste gives off orange tang to contrast waxy lychee, a saturated, eccentrically tropical cacophony muddling underripe guava, mango, peach compote, and banana peel into the mix over time, while light caramel malts and increasingly mossy, earth-forward characteristics come through on the back end and through the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a medium body alongside a fluffy, elevated, subtly high carbonation puffing outward across the palate to an effortlessly creamy texture with evenly dispersed, bitter undertones; a level, juicy tinge glides over the back end as a boozy bite sneaks in through the finish.
An impressively composed TIPA, identifiable in its edges yet uncharacteristically lush and pillowy in composure; a bite is there, though it supplements, not overtakes, a largely nuanced profile adept in its ability to casually highlight the boggy weight of hop expression at this ABV.
