Old ale aged in Willett Family Estate bourbon barrels for one year before finishing in a freshly dumped mezcal barrel. Notes of toffee, caramel, chocolate, dark fruit and a cohesive undercurrent of sweet smoke. This beer has been a long time dream for us to create and we could not be more excited to share it with you!

2022 vintage (released in 12/2022); consumed on 1/8/2025
Pours a somewhat thin, maroon-tinted brown body capped with a finger of sudsy, dark almond-hued foam; decent head retention yields a half-finger of cap, modest, frothy collar, and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aroma offers hints of mezcal into smoked raisins and a resounding prune jam overtone accented by touches of cocoa, while underlying barrel imparts a tenuous agave invigoration to the senses.
Taste brings prune jam and cocoa interspersed, with lighter notes of leather and caramel as a dark berry medley is muddled into subtle oak and tinges of smokiness.
Mouthfeel features a medium body and minimal carbonation, leaving silky overtones into a subtle prickling as dryness past the mid-palate transitions to vague stickiness gliding into the finish.
Dark fruit overload meets agave interplay, contrasting an otherwise immense one-dimensionality with advanced, full-spectrum mezcal barrel essence.

2023 release. Bottle. Not much head. Caramel copper brown. Dark.
Very complex. Raisins, figs, molasses, apple skins, caramel, plums. All the standard old ale stuff. Rye spice up front and then mezcal shines in the finish with a perfectly blended smokiness. It’s hard to make tequila/mezcal work in a darker beer and WW did it. This is smooth, warming, complex, and delicious.

A - Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. No real lacing.
S - Aroma is toffee, figs, raisins and a nice amount of smoke
T - The taste is toffee, caramel, raisins, dates, vanilla and some light smokiness.
M - Full body with low carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel with a dry finish.
O - Really good. The mezcal barrels add a nice depth to the base beer. Deceptively drinking for being 14%.

poured from a 500mL bottle into a tumbler glass. pours barleywine brown with virtually zero foam or bubbles. bourbon, smoke, dark fruits and toffee on the nose. taste follows and the smokiness on the nose isn’t hardly there on the taste, which i dig. much more toffee and caramel on the taste. as it warms and opens up, the smoke appears a little more but it’s still balanced and in check. thick, full mouthfeel with a lower level of carbonation. this series from these guys rocks.
