Poured out of a 16 oz. can into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a very dark brown color with a fluffy, tan head that's about 2/3 of an inch thick when first poured that settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass, some small cluster swirls of film layer surface foam, and good lacing. Aromas of some roasted malts with hints of chocolate and coffee that's followed by some earthy, herbal hop notes. A very similar taste, with the roasted malt flavors with some dark chocolate and coffee notes rounded out with some herbal and earthy hop bitterness. All of the flavors really need to be a bit stronger overall. Everything is just a bit too subdued for my taste. The body feels a bit thin to my palate for a porter. Has a slightly crisp and also smooth. light bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish. Not bad, but there is room for improvement here.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.
A: Nice and dark, almost opaque, with a fine, yet thin tan head.
S: Roasted malt, whole grain bread. Nice, but simple. Yeastiness and biscuits as it warms up.
T: Surprisingly savory and meaty. Toasted pumpernickel. A little sourness. Overall nothing too exciting.
M: Way too thin. Unfortunately doesn’t hold up to some of the better local examples of porter I’ve had.
Overall: Decent, but nothing to write home about. Really needs to be drank at a higher temperature for anything to come through. The lack of mouthfeel and complexity killed this for me.

I enjoyed this quite a bit as far as English Porters go. The malty chocolate flavors are all there with a great feel.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This nice little porter from
Bluejacket (A big thanks for this one by the way!) pours a
dark cola brown with a nice head of off white foam that settles
to a thick ring, thin dusty layer, and displays subtle lacing. Nose
of cola, subtle coffee, and char notes with touches of caramel
and chocolate. Flavors exceed the nose with brown sugars
and definite cocoa more upfront with dark coffee and
a lingering char note. Decent mouth feel; medium body,
medium light carbonation, and a rich bitter cocoa and
coffee malt finish that is nice but a touch thin.
Overall, a SOLID brew from a new to me brewery that I
would LOVE to visit.
Cheers and thanks again to Bluejacket!

16 ounce can, no dating that I noticed. Purchased at the brewery last weekend. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a very dark brown color with about an inch frothy tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some caramel and sweet malt noticeable too. Taste is a little sweeter compared to the aroma, when smelling the brew I thought there was going to be more bitterness in the taste but that wasn't the case here. Overall there's a nice balance between the sweet and bitter flavors. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit slick and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, although I do think it's better on tap. Worth a try for sure, and a visit to their brewery/taproom is always fun!
