Crisp and clean
Light and creamy body with soft malty character and a subtle touch of hops.

London-proud brewing
Pours a brilliant and shining gold with a pitch white foam. It showcases soft aromas of cereal grains, baked bread, and light honey.

Shocking flavour
The first sips are so smooth and easy, it beacons for more bringing a biscuit like sweetness but finishing off-dry and quick.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a Teku glass. From The Roundhouse Centre LCBO on Howard Ave. in nearby Windsor. Canned January 27/26. My 1st beer from the London, Ontario brewery, and for 2026. Surreptitiously adored by Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 27 2022 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear, pale golden-yellow colour, generating less than an inch of soapy, bubbly white head that collapses within two minutes or so. A frothy collar of suds lives on, surrounding a patchy, filmy cap; not much lace at first, but there's deposition as you sip away. The aroma is grainy, with suggestions of corn/cereal sweetness and perhaps a hint of grass - smells clean, and right for the style.

It's a good cream ale, dominated by pale malt flavours, but incorporating a corny-cereal-grain background sweetness about it, too. A little bready, with suggestions of apple skin and hay nearer the finish, followed by a mildly corny-sweet aftertaste that dries out nicely. Light in body, with relatively soft carbonation that gently brushes against the tongue, resulting in a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Goes down easy, that's for sure - I could toss back a few of these, no problem.

Final Grade: 3.59, a viable B grade. Powerhouse's Low Voltage isn't anything to get excited about, but I'd still argue that it's above average for the style. As someone who doesn't seek out and drink cream ales on purpose, this is something I could still see myself drinking occasionally in the future - its malt flavours are enjoyable enough, and I thought it had a pleasing mouthfeel. I'd encourage BAs in the market for a malt-forward session ale to give this a try.
