Tallboy from the LCBO; dated Jul 25 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear straw yellow colour, topped with half a finger of creamy white head that subsides within two minutes or so. A thin collar is the only remnant of note, with scant lace and no cap. Muted aroma of grains, grass and bread.
A decent ultra-light lager - graininess is the primary flavour, joined by hints of bread and tortilla sweetness. That's pretty much the long and short of it, as there's not much hop presence, save for maybe a faint twinge of lemon rind; finishes clean and dry into the aftertaste. Light in body, with assertive carbonation that feels brisk and frothy on the tongue; very crisp, very easy to swig quickly, with superb sessionability.
Final Grade: 3.75, a B+. I could drink 9 to 5 for eight consecutive hours and I don't think I'd really get sick of it. I wouldn't, because I have better things to do on my days off, but I totally could. Immaculately clean and eminently drinkable - basically the essence of what a light lager is supposed to be, if you ask me. Its flavours are nothing to write home about, but compared to a macro lite of equivalent abv (e.g. Cracked Canoe), they're verging on robust. Highly recommended if you're trying to cut back on your alcohol intake, or if you're simply looking for a quality craft light lager.
