How could we possibly make Session Black Lager, even more delicious and drinkable? Here’s a way: Session Black Cherry. It’s everything you've always loved about Session Black, now with a dash of cherry flavor. Still short, dark and drinkable. Still rocking those notes of roasty chocolate. But with a new cherry twist.

It pours deep garnet in color with a creamy tan head. Aromas of cocoa and cherry with a subtle floral essence. A smooth drinking dark lager with a full palate of bittersweet chocolate and sweet cherry taste. Black Cherry Black is rich in flavor yet finishes cleanly and is remarkably refreshing.

Available January to March in 12-packs, on draft and in the Session Mashup variety 12-pack.

Food Pairings: Lightly grilled red meats and roasted root vegetables. Lighter cheeses, such as brie, mozzarella and ricotta. Aged pungent cheese such as Glacier blue and nuttier cheeses like parmesan. Chocolate desserts, such as German chocolate cake and brownies, as well as bread pudding.

Over the years, our Session brews have brought home 100 medals, including 40 golds. Now you be the judge!

Appearance - Pours cola brown with a reddish tint. Light tan, half finger width head that dissipates rather quickly, leaving behind a thin, broken layer of suds and a fair ring around the edge of the glass. Good lacing, mostly consisting of an array of small spotting found around the glass.

Smell - Moderate black cherry aroma, backed by faint notes of cocoa and grain.

Taste - Follows the nose. Prominent black cherry hits first, then a healthy backing of chocolate flavor comes through. Light, grassy bitterness in the finish help to balance the brew.

Mouthfeel - Light in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a crisp, slightly dry finish.

Overall - Tasty little session cherry lager. Perfect for summer BBQs or days out by the pool.

The look is dark cherry red, perfect for the beer. Smells just like black cherries and pretty much tastes just like them as well. (The ABV% is 5.4% and not the 6.5% listed, I've never seen a full sail session beer be anything more than 5.4% so that's gotta be a typo)

11 oz stubby from "Mash-up" 12 pack from Winco in Commercial Street Salem OR. $11.97 Looks gorgeous..deep red /black with a gorgeous frothy and thick light tan head. Aroma is pretty subdued..its malty, bready with a hint of cherry pit. Taste is similar to the Session Black but with a good bit of cherry pit on the end,. This is not a fruit beer were the fruit over bears..but it is well balanced and the fruit hold up the body Actually very nice semi thick mouth feel..nice. Really good..i liked this understated cherry ale

This one poured a very pretty dark garnet with a foamy tan head with big bubbles. Nice lacing down the glass.

Smells of bread some stone fruit and some toasted malts.

Taste is of toasted malts and lager flavor notes.

The mouth is fairly light and has a bit of a wet finish.

Overall this one was a bit disappointing as I was looking for cherries and got none. All I really picked up on was a decent black lager and no cherries. Also of note is that the ABV on BA is off a bit as my bottle says 5.4%.

A seasonal release in a 10 oz bottle. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a translucent garnet red color. mostly clear, with a modest bubbly head.

Smell is faint. What is there is a bit of a cherry cough syrup aroma.

Tastes is a sweet lager flavor, a bit of roasted grain, and a sweet cherry soda taste.

Mouthfeel is thin and clean.

Overall a very average black lager.

Had this as a taster at the brewpub.

Dark cola/carmel color. Not completely opaque. Red-ish when held to the light. Low ivory head and low carbonation.

I get almost nothing off the smell. There's no hop presence there that I can catch.

The flavor is a only a little sweet and slightly 'dirty'. The bitterness is very light. This is clearly a low-hop beer, which I'd expect from a session. Despite the darkness, and the fact that it's a fruit beer, it's a pretty simple, straightforward flavor.

The body is very light for such a dark beer. Amazingly high ABV considering the lightness of the body. Overall, really nice, not overly fruity, and kind of novel. A pretty good fruit beer for folks who aren't really into fruit beers. Avoids being sweet and cloying.
