Brewed in the ‘Imperial Style’ and aged for months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels, Top Sail Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter is rich and robust. Brewed in April 2016 with two-row pale, crystal, and chocolate malts, black barley and English Target hops, Top Sail offers malt complexity with flavors of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and caramel. Barrel aging imparts hints of vanilla, dark cherry, and oak. IBU 45

Nice boozy bourbon barrel flavor with fig and a hint of prune, dark malt, sweet and their yeast is apparent in this one. Nice porter that is enjoyable.

2018 batch from a 12 oz. bottle.
Pitch black and clean with a thin and responsive light tan head that sways with each turn off the glass.
Sweet marshmallow and boozy bourbon soaked wood dominate over slightly burnt toast and coffee.
Flavor follows with a sweet vanilla and chocolate blend leading into wood and a minerally finish. Perhaps a hint of dark berries too.
Medium body, yet feels a bit thin do to the stripping effect of the booze. Plenty of warmth there too. Well balanced and a tannic like finish.
Good bang for your buck BBA beer. Solid effort, good flavors and aroma, and a dry Porter finish rather than chewy stout so I'd say well executed.
Cheers.

Blackish-brown body with a thin yet dense, creamy, tan head; splotches of foam dotting the glass. Charred and roasted grain aroma with a very subtle underlay of bourbon. Milk chocolate and vanilla flavors with a nice boozy component; cocoa. Heavy body; silky; alcohol warmth.
It's been a long time since I've had a Full Sail beer, and this offering makes me miss some of their more adventurous and bold offerings. This beer delivers luscious and decadent heavy porter delights along with a nicely balanced barrel-aged element. An very fine offering from Hood River...

Poured into a Tree House glass a very nice dark brown color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus tan head, which also leaves some very nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice, malty, with a really nice touch of chocolate/toffee, bourbon/oak, vanilla, licorice. The taste is really nice, malty, with some chocolate/toffee, really nice touch of bourbon/oak. vanilla, licorice. Full Body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, a pretty tasty complex brew. Overall, a very nice brew, glad to see some around here.
