On tap, as Capucijn Dubbel, at Cardinal, Stavanger. Brown colour, white (or slightly off-white) head. Pleasant malty aroma and flavour of caramel, brown kandij sugar syrup and dark dried fruits. Low bitterness, smooth mouthfeel.

Beautiful mahogany-chestnut brown colour with a modest layer of foam. Promising smell of cloves, caramel, banana and liquorice. Taste follows the smell, with malts and dark fruits thrown in the mix. A nice dubbel, reminiscent of a german weizenbock actually. The brewers made a good choice using wheat malt. It doesn't have a wheat beer's smoothness though, but all in all a nice brew.

It pours a beautiful copper-mahogany brown and forms a creamy 1 inch off-white to tan head. It looks great! The nose is rich and bitter, suggesting dried fruits and caramel and offering hints of molasses cookies. Furthermore, it has a medium-full body with significant enveloping richness. Dark raisin flavors, suggestions of well-steeped tea, honey, brown sugar, and dark malts can be found. It is very moreish - I cannot keep myself from sipping it! I should have bought more! The palate is rich and delicious and the finish is about 7 caudalies! Wow! I am happy. It produces some very nice lacing, but who cares! The proof is in the drinking!

Hands down the greatest ale i've ever had. Sat in a pub who had it on as a guest ale. Myself and my mate managed to drink the barrel dry over a weekend without it even beginning to lose it's taste. I'll be reunited with my true love one day!

300 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 6.5%

Three fingers of off-white, sopay head, with very good retention, especially after it loses its initial half size. Heavy lacing left behind. Colour of the beer itself is a very dark mohogany brown. Impressive.
Sweet aroma of roasted malts and lots of caramel and at the same time a bit sour, of stewed dark fruits.
Taste is sweet at first and fruity. Lots of the roasted malts here too, along with fruits, becomes a very pleasant light bitterness, with delicious choclate notes.
Full body, as much carbonation as needed and sort of sticky on the palate.
Pleasantly surprised with this one, a truly delicious beer, although I am sure many will find it too sweet.

Purchased from the Beers of Europe, coming in a 30cl brown bottle, filtered; BB October 09, served cool in De Dolle Oerbier's long-stemmed goblet.

A: pours a dark copper hue with great clarity and moderate but constant input of mild fizz; the beige foamy head sustains well.
S: the nose is reminiscent of a British premium bitter even, featuring lightly-toasted and caramely malts, flowery, longan-fruity, raisiny scent, plus a honey-tea-ish hint. The aroma is attributable to a good balance between hops and malts I believe, albeit slightly sweeter than necessary overall to my preference.
T: rather effervescent upfront, sweet jammy dark fruits (like sweet dried dates plus a sour edge of prunes and raisins) come with dark tea-leaves, but the spicy hint of hops quickly ensues and expands at the rear of the palate on top of lingering aromatic caramely malts and licorice-candy. A tinge of flowery esters seems to earmark the aftertaste with a little Belgian flavour, adding some extra points to the overall pleasure.
M&D: effervescent and slightly too fizzy at first, but this probably helps lift the otherwise slightly syrupy/oily palate somewhat. Overall this medium-bodied fruity-malty brew is like a hybrid b/w a not-so-bitter Premium Bitter and a much-less-estery Belgian Dark Ale. The filtering and likely pasteurisation surely have eliminated the last trace of its true identity. But all in all, this is still a decent brew in its own right.

Nice deep brown colour with a large tan head. Not much of a nose but the flavour is worth the wait. Probably the best of the Budels beers( of the 6 I tried)this beer has a slightly sweetness malty body with a strong finish. You can tell the beer isn't German but the almost Belgian notes make this an interesting hybrid. I would buy this beer again if it didn't mean purchasing the boxed set.

a: nice amber color, medium head that settles into thin brown veil and some lacing
s: malty with a sour fruity tinge
t: malts with with slightly bitter finish, not much else going on
m: medium body with disappointg carbonation, almost flat, grainy feel that sticks in the mouth after a drink
d: not bad to drink, but rather unimpressive belgian-style that lacks adequate carbonation and flavor

This beer pours a bright deep-red, brown color with a small head and very low visible carbonation.

Smell is very malty with chocolate and caramel. Smells like a pretty full-bodied beer.

Taste is very full and sweet, sticky, with a good maltbitter and caramel taste like Special-B, a raisin or grape taste. This tastes more like a German Doppelbock, which is very good. I can't believe that people give these bad reviews. This is absolutely a good beer and I think if it would have been from Germany, it would get better ratings!

Pours with a rather odd, brown/red orange colour. No head to speak of. I've seen more foam after pouring a bottle of sprite. That was flat. Thin smell, consisting mainly of grains , caramel and brown sugar. Taste is alright. Dry sweetness, with a bit of a sticky caramel taste, finishing off to a somewhat bitter end. Mouthfeel is dry and sticky. Not something I would buy again, but if offered for free I'd take it.

Mostly clear, deep ruby colour with a short, light tan head. Fair retention with decent lacing as the foam subsides somewhat. Mild carmelized sugar aroma, some malt, with very light floral hops and a hint of alcohol. Low bitterness, mostly sweet and mild. Caramel and molasses notes are apparent throughout, along with a bit of yeast character. The finish is very short, leaving just a bit of brown sugar and bitterness behind. Medium/low carbonation, medium body, with a bit of creaminess. One of the better beers I've tried from this brewery. Though I wouldn't search it out again, I also wouldn't turn it down if offered.

Arrived a dark tea like brew with reddish/orange hilites. The crown was very short and what little lace their was soon disappeared, leaving only a thin glass ring.
The aroma is also thin, lightly of roasted grains and alcohol.
Carbonation is lively and the body is full.
The taste is fairly well balanced starting strongly to the malts and ending lightly to the hops, prominent is a smoky smooth barley.
Also noted a syrupy semi sweet aftertaste..
