473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 9 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear medium golden colour, capped off with one finger of smooth, foamy white head that fades within a couple of minutes. It leaves behind a messy band of lacing, along with a tight collar of suds around a filmy cap - looks good to me. It smells of grapefruit, orange and piney, floral hops, with suggestions of lemon, indeterminate tropical fruit and grass clippings.
Classic American IPA sensibilities on display here - this one's got a sturdy backdrop of doughy, bready malts and light honey/caramelized sweetness, but it's balanced out with plenty of hop flavour, too, with the Cascade hops really coming through for me. Grapefruit and orange at the forefront, then a pithy, floral, slightly spicy hop bitterness at the finish, concluding with a mild, bittersweet aftertaste of honeyed malts, citrus and resin. Medium in body, with moderately lively carbonation that froths up in the mouth a bit, resulting in a smooth, soft texture that I found quite pleasing on the tongue. Extremely drinkable - I finished my glass almost as quickly as this review, which is usually a sign of a solid quaffing beer.
Final Grade: 3.98, a high B+. Overflow's Landlocked is a quality IPA that I will continue to purchase for as long as it remains available around here. As others have already noted, this is undoubtedly an old-school IPA at heart, with the presence of strong Cascade hop flavours and aromas serving as an exclamation point in support of that statement. It might not be what the hazebros are seeking out, but I'll still encourage them to give this one a shot anyhow.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Canning date of April 29, 2021. Probably full on IPA as opposed to an APA.
Appearance - Clear coppery gold colored beer with a small half finger of soapy white head. Modest retention and a few bubbles are visible and can see to be percolating.
Smell - Citrus withy orange and grapefruit leading the way, faint pine quality to the brew as well.
Taste - Citrus with mandarin orange and grapefruit. Some quality crackery aspect in the background. medium-intensely bitter, probably just about right for an IPA. Kind of has a bit of an old school West Coast IPA feel, Lone Pine by Sawdust City of Cameron's Jurassic IPA might be a good comparison.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, crisp carbonation, satisfyingly dry finish.
Overall - A no-frills attached IPA, Just simple flavorful, balanced and well executed. Definitely worth a try and one of the better new local IPA's I've tried in recent memory. This is super fresh as well, so worth trying if you can find and it's less than two weeks old.
