Look: Pitch black. Slightly over one finger of off-white head with long retention.
Smell: Mild citrusy hops and stone fruit.
Taste: Slightly toasted malt with a raspberry and red wine backing. Doesn’t push strongly in either sweet or dry directions, sitting in the middle as a wine and beer cross.
Mouthfeel: Somewhat thin, with very high carbonation on the tongue and in the throat.
Overall: Despite being a saison, this is a rather mild beer in terms of flavor. It might be a good opportunity for a cautious amateur to push into different flavors, but won’t really intrigue an experienced cicerone.
