Poured from a16 ounce can into a IPA style glass. Nice thick head that lasts, fruity aroma. Lots of citrusy flavor on the first swig. Three hops are blended for this DIPA juice bomb: Idaho-7, Calypso & Lemondrop; they work together well. The 8% abv is well hidden, and it finishes cleanly. I'm not sure if this is a separate company brewing at Thimble Island, or if it's just part of Thimble Island, but the product is a winner.

Karmic Daaru Beer Co. "Citrus Suraj"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is a New England style double IPA with lemon rind and Idaho-7, Calypso, and Lemondrop hops. That honestly seems like a lot but you never know how much they're using and what not. It's poured a hazy but not really that hazy deep golden/amber colored body beneath a full head of slightly yellowed white foam. There's visible particulate in suspension. The head seems to be holding well, and there's some lacing left behind where it's already dropped. The aroma isn't that bright at all but who knows how old this beer is without any coding. I get the lemon, but again, it's not bright, and there are notes of lime, apricot, and peach. On to the taste then... it's more malty than I thought it would be but I can't really tell what's going on with it. It's bready, sweet, doughy, and honeyish. The hops are again limited. In fact, there's just a dull citrus character which is highly disappointing given the variety of hops and the lemon peel. I mainly get lemon-lime but there's also some apple, apricot, peach, and mango. Ahhh, maybe I was mistaken. If I can get all of those notes then it's not just a 'dull citrus character', it's just not as bright as I'd expected it to be. It's also a double IPA and for whatever reason, the extra malt I guess, they just don't show off the hops as clearly as single strength IPAs. A firm bitterness balances it and although it's sweetish upfront the bitterness is still there, and then it does dry in the finish. Some bitterness lingers along with notes of peach, lemon-lime, and apple. In the mouth it's full bodied and gently crisp with a median carbonation. It's smooth and creamy. In the end, although it wasn't exactly what I was expecting given what's written on the label, it is a really good beer and I'd buy it again.

The pour of contents from a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug is ludicrous. There's a huge starchy white foam sitting atop a very carbonated amber liquid. This was not a violent pour and the temperature of the ale was below 55 degrees, in the USA. The starchy head is doing the unsightly receding, uneven with sparse glass lacing. Not too many barley based brews look this bad, so the prediction is for a poor body, without any balance. The aroma is just as expected, knowing lemon rinds are included. It smells almost like a lemon meringue pie, so points added. The taste is very bland, very undistinguished. There's no lemony tartness, which is the one thing that should be expected. There's no great NEIPA body, although it isn't bodiless and the aftertaste is more of bitterness than lemon tartness. Not terrible, but just short of being enjoyable.

Karmic Daaru's second brew.. and what a success! A fantastic NE double that presents moderate bitterness balanced by sweet malt. Initial thoughts were "juice bomb" as pineapple or orange were largely present. Beer warmed up to reveal the sweet biscuty malt followed by the well hidden 8%. Great follow up to space comet. No regrets with this 4 pack!
