look: 3.75 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75
Appearance: A thumb's worth of head that offered modest retention but no lacing accompanies a bright amber body that shows sold carbonation.

Smell: Not as malt forward as I would like it to be, as toffee malt sits directly behind an earthy hop presence that dominates the nose. It didn't need warming to come out, and the potency is there, but it's not quite doing it for me.

Taste: Thankfully the malt asserts itself far more as you drink it as it starts with toffee and maybe a hint of pluot before handing over to more biscuit malt with earth and grassy hop notes.

Mouthfeel: The bitter end is a tad bit too aggressive, but it's a minor complaint. The transitioning is good, albeit short, the carbonation is well done and helps out the entire beer and the aftertaste is mostly clean as the hops take a slight back seat to the toffee malt, making for a nice end.

Drinkability: It is quite refreshing and easy to put back, although not quite as easy as some Marzens I've had. Lighter side of medium body which serves it well here, as that extra .5 ABV isn't really noticeable.

Final Thoughts: A well made, perfectly quaffable Marzen, but not one that particularly stands out. This is the kind of thing I would love to get a keg of to celebrate Oktoberfest, but not one I'd go out of my way to grab. I think this would go great with Bratwurst...which...duh by design given the style. A solid Oktoberfest, and there's nothing wrong with that.
