A: Clear, medium brown pour with burnt brick highlights. Head is superfine, even and med. khaki colored.
S: At first, it has the nuances of a mocha-caramel iced coffee from DD. Dark molasses with coffee expressing notes of dried currants and prunes. The fruitiness only builds as it warms and might be overlooked otherwise. Light toast quality.
M: Med bodied to full with high carbonation. Still, a semi-dry finish.
T: Starts off with a med. roast blend heavy on the dried fruits sweetened with buckwheat honey. Finishes with more complex malt/graininess of toasted cracked wheat. The fruity esters are on par with the malt as the roast ends up as the third party.
Textbook for the style. What I really like is are the currant notes and smooth transition to toasted malt. However, I found it a bit ethery at times as I noticed some grain alcohol at times.
