16oz. can poured vigorously into it's own logo'd 14oz. goblet. A pale, tawny yellow color with a frothy head that slumps quickly but has legs and persists to the bottom with a foam ring and whispy cap of film. Steady spurts of carbonation rise from the bottom through a nearly crystal clear liquid. Sigh.... it's so nice to look through my beer again!
Aroma is subdued, fresh milled grain and herbal hop, a bit of citrus marmalade but I need to go sniffing for it. Not an in-your-face Dbl IPA nose of malt/booze/hop or sweet n juicy but interesting and complex just not loud.
Flavor is malt up front - good caramel and more marmalade flavors that segway into a firm hop bite that blends citrus and grassy notes. Alcohol warmth makes it's first appearance as the hop bitterness takes charge and the two dance off together leaving the malty sweetness shrinking in their wake. Very nice lingering hop spiciness envelops the tongue on the finish.
Body is medium ++ with a hefty weight in the mouth especially as it warms - and now whiffs of alcohol come forward as I swirl and sniff my 1/2 empty glass.
A solid "classic" type Double IPA made in small batches at my local brewery.
