Released on 9/30/20, so presumably canned within a few days of that date; consumed on 11/22/20

Pours a deep, orange-tinted golden body topped with a finger and a half of fluffy, slightly off-white foam; sub-par head retention yields a flimsy sliver of cap, a slight, frothy collar, and a temporary selection of soapy, webby lacing clinging to the walls of the glass.

Aromas open with white toast with honey and coarse cereal grains before linking with fervent spiced floral characteristics and lighter grassy tones over the middle; an underlying clean minerality presides beneath green apple with a touch of brown sugar and bready yeast into the close.

Taste brings honey upfront before trending fruity, showcasing steady apple peel into a mid-palate of white bread and bready yeast textures; mild tones of burnt toast and pumpernickel bread peak subtly into the back end, where light brown sugar with brown bread and prickly grass meld into the finish.

Mouthfeel offers a medium-light body, taut and crisp, with low-lying carbonation easing into a clean, delicately spritzy grit over the mid-palate as a semi-dry finish with steady hop edges lingers.

A Festbier rife with expressive malts, steady roast, and a cleverly covert hop profile, yet with little in the way of established focus to unite these otherwise intriguing elements together; great potential for an expansive take on the style here, but for now remains only pleasant yet unspectacular overall.

16oz. can served in my Ayinger willibecker. Pours a light, translucent copper with a loose, fizzy, quarter inch, off-white head that sizzles and pops and immediately disperses towards the edges. Nose is initially grassy, followed by a hint of caramel sweetness. Taste consistent with nose - malts are a little more crackery and the finish might have a hint of sour mash to it. Digging the mouthfeel on this - light in body with an assertive carbonation and a crisp, semi-dry finish. All and all, a really nice example of the style. Really glad I picked this up.
