Toasted Barrel Brewery

a cool white ipa here, my first ever beer from toasted barrel. its a nice product, has a really high tone estery belgian yeast strain leading the way in aroma and flavor, quite obviously fermented real warm, but its not too much if you like this sort of thing, just a little cleaner and less rustic than i generally prefer my belgian beer to be. it works in this style though, highlights some unique aspects of the hops, and works in orange and coriander really nicely. i think the orange gets some needed bitterness into the mix, and the coriander has a compatible herbal and earthy profile that works well with the yeast. i get white wine, pear, apple, and pineapple out of the hops, from start to finish not just all at the end, and i get some light spiciness as well, white pepper and maybe some clove. good complexity to this, fairly intensely flavored, certainly on the yeast side, but there is some balance here too and i think overall the beer is quite good. nice with a fresh and zesty salad, and kind of summery in essence. ill look for more beers from these guys when i am utah next!
