redundant in a number of ways, like, isnt all kriek cherry beer? and isnt real kriek lambic, which is wood aged? in any event, this might not even be that, perhaps a kettle sour, as many of them are in here, its hard to call it, and they offer little information, even if the taproom experience was appreciably personable. this is deep brick red without a lot of head, with some body but almost comically acidic, and a small flight pour was the right dose, more of this would be shocking to the system. fortunately the cherry aspect is natural and nice, with some skinny tang and some red wine sort of character to it, berries and acid and funk, undeniably oak forward, but a beer that seems stinky lactic and even butyric to me, which is not a compliment, although not total stomach acid either. i wish the wood mellowed it more, and i wish the refinement level was higher overall, like, get this dried out, bubbled up, bottle conditioned, and purer, and you have a winner, but this drinks and feels like a rough draft to me, and based on everything else we had here and from these guys, i am not all that confident in their ability to perfect this moving forward. not bad, but also full of holes from a technical standpoint...
