Had this at the Bistro Double IPA festival, 22nd annual in February 2022. Never heard of the brewery, and given that it is from Suisuin (i.e. right next to where I used to live) I figured I'd give it a shot. Don't regret it, but it was below average for the festival.
Pours golden. Has good clarity and almost 1/2" white head. Its a good looking beer. The aroma was a let down, seemed like all bittering hops and maybe even zero dry hopping.
The taste also seemed minimal, it was like old school hops meet newer light malt bill. I'd guess this was somewhere in the neighborhood of Simcoe/Idaho 7/Amarillo/C hop. Just really dropped a significant 69ibu I would speculate. Oh hey, that reminds me, hi Steph. It did do a pretty good job of having a crisp mouth feel that kept an 8.5% abv bouyed nicely and didn't come across as boozy or hot.
I would definitely give this beer or brewery another whirl though. Sometimes festival conditions aren't in your control. I get it.
