This beer is brewed in Friesland, which is the northern part of the Netherlands and a province where things are being done a little different than in the rest of the country. And so is this beer...
Appearance is a clear, brown beer with a small head with some bigger bubbles. Only a small number of gas bubbles reach for the top.
Smell is super intreging, what is this? Definatelly vanilla and pipe tobacco, something woody and rich and sweet like a christmas pudding.
Taste is vanilla, christmas pudding, caramel, which really reminds me of pipe tobacco. There is also something oaky in here and a little marmelade. Bitterness and maltbitterness comes out after some sips. Mouthfeel is sticky and sweet, smooth. Balance is very good, with the sweetness and bitter soaked in creamy vanilla.

30cl brown bottle, filtered. BB 06/06. Served cool in a slim goblet.
A: pours a dark caramely and dark reddish colour--beautiful~~ the off-white beer head dissipates quite fast, on top of a constant and gently bubbly body.
S: intriguing nose... strawberry-jam, vanilla, richly toffeeish, caramel malts+malt syrup, sour-sweet licorice-smoked prunes (a Taiwanese delicacy)... Slightly too sweet for me, but the overall nose truly is distinctive.
T: very interesting flavour mixing corn-syrup, ripe fig/fig jam, root-vegetable flavour like boiled potatos, and an underlying aftertaste of the afore-mentioned prunes... weak hoppyness behind with a touch of bitterness, but a licorice and mixed herbal bitter-sweetness lingers in the finish. This beer really reminds me a lot of Taiwanese high-mountain tea infused with a licorice-smoked prune--lovely faintly sour+bitter-sweet and herbal-ish lingering aftertaste rounds off the palate smoothly~~
M&D: creamy smooth texture and very balanced body; the drinkability is good due to its unusual taste, but I really struggle to categorise this beer. Maybe somebody who will have tried it could shed some lights on this?
