Paris 3/4 2026. 50 cl can from CarreFour, Rue de Bercy, Paris 12e. Steel grey can with a happy pig guzzling bee and a red stripe to signal that this is a beer involving red fruit.

Pours clear golden amber with a red hue. Lightly pink head. Stable. Settles as a 3 cm thick layer of foam obscuring the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with sweet ripe berries mingling with a more subdued tart scent. Cherries and currants. Marzipan and sugar. Tart gooseberries and a hint of of citrus.

Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter with a noticeable sweet undertone.

A bit like lemonade with an ABV.

50 cl can bought on a whim, poured into a proper pint glass, in Toulouse, FR.
OK white-pinkish foam lifts up, recedes right after its photo op.
Smell is cherry Kool-Aid. That’s all.
Taste is cherry / raspberry / hibiscus tea. It’s sweet, and the artificial aspects come alive after the first hit. Almost sickening aftertaste that harkens me back to the Hi-C red pop of my youth. Still, somehow, I kinda like it. It’s on par with a cheap fortified wine. Gawd awful aftertaste that only a buzz seeking teenager could appreciate.
Mouth is smooth, low carbonation.
Overall.,. Mmmph.,.

Decent start to the head, but it devolves into large bubbles which fade entirely except for some larger rim bubbles. Nearly no lace. The liquid is Kool-Aid Fruit Punch red. At least it's clear.

The aroma starts off like raspberry preserves. Next, I get a strong metallic smell of iron. After this, it morphs more into an artificial cherry nose.

The taste is overly sweet and it has nothing to counterbalance it--no sour, salt, or bitterness. I am reminded of children's aspirin. Remember that fake orange taste that allowed one to chew aspirin as a child; yup, that flavor. The body is neutral with a nearly non-existent carbonation level despite the larger head. The finish is simply way too cloying--this finishes sweeter than any drink I've ever had. The only reason to potentially drink this is as a counterpoint to the stinkiest of cheeses. Even there, i can think of several things I'll reach for first.

This beer pours a nice red color with an off-white head. It has a berry nose and slight formal notes. The taste was almost like cranberry juice, but had a surprising amount of fora character to it. Almost like a hibiscus beer. Surprising, but not bad.

Cerveza rojiza con un cuerpo ligera y baja carbonatación. Aroma a cereza. En boca es dulce, nada ácida ni amarga y un poco plana.

Thought this was HAACHT brewery Belgium as opposed to DIFCOM of France?

Any how minor issue aside, this fruit beer pours a cherryade red topped with fizzing foamy head.

Aroma is cherry unsurprisingly, nothing more.

Taste is actually quite good, not too overpowering.

Feel is not so great, a fair bit of gas, and very watery.

Overall it does feel like pop as opposed to beer. 7.5% guts though coukd be dangerous on a hot day.....average to fair.

Yes, drinkers beware! A jolly looking 500 ml can with the tippling pig at the French supermarket. The stuff pours a very alarming red color but the foam is off white, not pink. It's the smell that gets you. I think of plastic car seat covers.

Extremely sweet. Then the taste in the back of the throat-- cough syrup. and no wonder-- it's supposed to be brewed with 10% cherry juice, plus "sugar and sweetner." It does taste like the aspartame generation of artificial sweetners. This would almost be drinkable if it didn't smell so bad, but then that lingering cherry jello note and the bitter seeds and stems aftertaste. What is it cyanide is supposed to smell like? This current version is brewed by Haacht.

"Brewed by Gebrouwen door", "NV Br. Haacht SA, Provinciesteenweg, 28, 3190, Boortweetbeek, Belgium" for "SA Ditcom, Villeneuve d'Ascq, 59650, France"
"Rince Cochon"

Notes via stream of consciousness: "Bière Forte Aux Fruits Rouges" - I wonder what that means. Does it mean they use real fruit? I kind of doubt that. Ahh, I'm wrong, well somewhat wrong. The label reads "...Top fermented fruit-flavoured beer with cherry juice (10%) from concentrate, sugar and sweetener." It's poured a mostly clear dark amber/ruby body beneath a slightly pinkish off-white head. So far the head retention seems to be fairly good. In the aroma I do find some clear cherry, and some sweetish malt. Moving on, the flavor also displays cherry, lots of it, and although it's definitely sweetish it's not too sweet. The cherry is mostly authentic, although somewhat medicinal, just a touch, and really more like cherry candy than cherry juice. There's not a lot of bitterness to it but there is a light touch of alcohol, which is a little odd at just 7.5% abv. Ahh, is that what's giving me that medicinal characteristic? Probably. In the end it finishes semi-dry but not "sweet" and certainly not cloying. One thing to note is that sometimes fruit beers have a bit of acidity to them, some tartness that helps to balance the sweetness, but there's none of that in this one. It's medium in body and delicately crisp and then smooth across the tongue. Overall it's a decent enough fruit beer, particularly given the price, and I'm sure this sells quite well. Worth trying for fans of fruit beers.

The red fruit version of this already cloying belgian strong pale ale. The offnotes are hidden by the syrupy fruit notes but it doesn't make it a good beer
