Thanks, Chad!
Was lucky enough to receive one of these bad boys and a bunch of others from Chad. This one really sounds good as a barrel-aged imperial red ale. I can see what Chad would like it as he is a big rye fan. Looking forward to it.
Poured a reddish brown amber murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy khaki white head.
Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled the rye whiskey barrel first, but it wasn’t overpowering. Also got plum, dark fruits, caramel sweetness, toffee, purple grape, oak and even some tobacco. (Smell - 4.50)
First thought on the taste was just wow. Got oaky wood, rye whiskey, dark fruits, plum, herbal, hints of menthol and caramel squares. Bottle says Chinook but I’m not picking it up and Falconer (not that familiar with it). Want to say some Nugget but I always associate that with wood. This is tasty. (Taste - 4.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, oaky finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was just awesome. I had a feeling it was going to be good, but not this good. ISO: more. (Overall - 4.50)
