Deep amber color with a chewy mouthfeel. This giant is brewed in the “wee heavy” style of Scotch ales and is heavy on the alcohol, caramel and malty sweetness.

L: Pours a dark brown amber color with a small tan head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Strong caramel and sweet malt with a light hop and earthy malt. As should be this is a very malty beer.

Nova Scotia is the only scotia that Raul knows. And what comes from there? Fish? Smoked fish? Ok, let’s go with that - and SSA is like the Little Mermaid of fish from Nova. Like, it looks good and tastes good. Is that freaky? Who cares? We all know that Raul is.

Mmm mmmm good!

Had on tap. Cloudy brown body with a tan head. Aromas of caramel malt, dark fruit, and residual sugars. Caramel malt with traditional smoky earth and dried dark fruit but also unexpected booze in the taste. Feel is medium-light bodied with some booze leakage, malt and viscous. Solid wee heavy, but want more malt weight

Picked this up in Carlsbad New Mexico 10-24-20 as part of a mixed 12 pack for $16.99. Best by 12-10-20; consumed 10-26-20.

Scotia was a nice wee heavy that fits the classic characteristics of a large caramel and toasted malt base which is a touch sweet but balanced in the end with appropriate hopping levels. Would have again.

Pours dark, rich brown color, nearly clear, with a minimal tan head. The nose has booze up front - didn’t expect that - and a significant caramel aroma. I’m intrigued.

On the taste, the viscosity mentioned on the can presents itself as a chewy body stacked on the alcohol and rich caramel flavors. This is a cocky, confident malty beer that isn’t afraid to whack you upside the head. I wish I had a 6er of this, because this is a PERFECT winter beer.
