This double IPA pours an amber with white head, but almost no aroma. The flavor starts with the hop forward nature before the lactose says hello. Sadly, the flavors fizz away quickly, leaving a residue of hoppy bitterness.

Decanted from a 16 oz (4735 ml) can into a muffin top pint glass; no production information, but purchased at the brewery last week.
A: Pours an ever so slightly hazy, honey amber color with a one finger, orange chiffon head, rim retention, and very sticky, complex rings of lacing.
S: Yeasty with bread factory front and center. Aromas of caramel, honeysuckle, vanilla, and just a hint of grapefruit or pine.
T: Semisweet. Flavors largely follow the nose, but earthy with strong leather and tobacco notes. Middle range bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Alcohol not so much in evidence (until it is) and a bit of a bite.
O: An Imperial, more in the style of an English or perhaps East Coast IPA. Really dug the leathery/tobacco bite given all the "super-juicy-fruit" alternatives. Yum!

Plenty of alcohol all over the place here. In the nose on the palate and on the finish so I question the balancing on this quaff. Brewed with lactose and a very nice hop selection of El Dorado and Citra but the lactose, I suspect, does something to throw this off. I think it makes what should be a hop forward beer too muddled and malty.

Poured from a 16oz can into a straight sided pint glass.

Look is a light amber with an offwhite head.

Aroma is herbal hoppy with a hint of lactose.

Taste is an interesting balance between malt and hops.

A rather dark amber color with semi-clarity and a fast white head. Slight hops on the nose but not very floral. The drinking hits upfront with a weird mix of the hops and lactose with a bitter flow and finish. Fruit notes are on the subtle side and I get more of a syrupy resin and pine mixture. The lactose adds a sort of sweet vanilla flavor that doesn't really seem to compliment the hops or the mouth feel. The mouth feel is moderate the hop/lactose mix is a mess and it really comes off a bit chemically tasting.

Overall, just not a very good beer.
