Served on tap at North Fork Brewing Company in Riverhead, NY; retried it from a 16 oz (473 ml) can purchased there.
A: Pours a virtually clear, copper color with a one finger, wheat head, rim retention, but surprisingly little lacing.
S: Roasty, bacon aromas predominate initially with a distinct molasses note; noted more toast and cocoa from the can.
T: Dry. Palate largely follows the nose, except maybe more lemony. Light balanced bitterness
M: Light bodied with low effervescence.
O: Spoke to the server said, who said this was NOT a rauchbier, but an early precursor. Certainly seemed like one to me on tap, less so from the can, and hope they keep experimenting.
