Once a year in the Northern Hemisphere we get to brew beer in its purest form. During the annual harvest hop cones are cut from trellises and added directly to an actively fermenting hazy IPA to tease out aromatics that can only be found in a beer this time of year.

Look: Murky dark orange with a sudsy white head that erupts to the rim, holds, and slowly settles, leaving awesome lacing behind
Aroma: Sappy conifer notes, pungent and freshly peeled grapefruit, wafts of berries, oranges, and some bready malt
Taste: Kicks off with a blast of fir needles, pine needles, and conifer pitch as waves of citrus fruits follow closely behind. A nice strawberry-led mixed berry note is evident once the coniferous notes recede and closes with more pithy citrus fruit
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and closes with a light dry note
Overall: This is some good stuff. My first fresh hop beer from these folks and it’s a good one. Fresh Chinooks are well highlighted here and uniquely so in that I often get melon from this varietal but don’t in this beer. Lots of conifer and citrus along with light berry notes sum this tasty treat up and I would recommend it as well

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Canned 09/13/22.

Pours slightly hazy. A bit more than a finger of head. Lots of carbonation. Smell is piney and herbal.

Taste is moderate grain, strong hoppy herbal notes, a little bit of resin.

Mouthfeel is light, clean, dry. Overall, nice beer.

Canned 13 Sept, side by side with the Ft George Rock, Paper, Chinook.

A mildly hazy yellow with a dense off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is perfumey and citrusy, bright yet soft, and a mild fresh hop dankness. The palate opens mildly bitter and with some rounded fresh hop notes, oily, resiny, mildly grapefruit like notes. A soft, doughy malt character is present. Mildly bitter on the finish. A touch grassy. Solid.

169z can (date partially obscured, but ends with xx/16/21, so probably 9/16/21) poured into 16oz tulip. Poured a very hazy yellow-orange color with an inch of white head that had good retention and lacing.

The aroma had pine and frooty aroma, with a gentle grain base.

Similar on the tongue, with the frooty aspects being more dominant.

The body was light-medium, smooth, and had a semi-sweet finish.

Drinkability was good, smooth and easy, but I wasn't left craving another.

Overall, a solid take on the style. Worth a shot if you see it.

Pours a hazy golden color with a foamy, creamy white head that literally coats the glass on the journey to the bottom. The nose is bursting with fresh resiny pine and grapefruit aromas - a veritable uppercut of those aromas. Wow!

The pine is forward on the taste, with the grapefruit at the back of the palate for a finish that is plenty bitter and oh so delicious.

The mouthfeel is medium and has some bite. If you look up “fresh hop IPA” in the beer nerd dictionary, there’s a picture of this beer. Really excellent stuff, IMHO.

Slight haze on the amber brew with abundant foam in the New Belgium snifter. Starts with a sweet malty taste. Aromatic with peach, pine, and citrus peel. Flavors of melon, lime peel, and bread. Moderately acidic but is just right with the sweetness.

Overall this is one of the better of the 2021 crop of new hop brews. Lush mouthfeel, aromatic, and just a modest bitterness to start but it lingers after some sipping. Surprisingly well-balanced for using just the one hop. From the 16 oz can purchased at Community Coop in Bellingham. Dated 9/15/21.

Can dated Cones !!!!! 09/18 into an imperial nonic pint.

Great floral and citrus nose, with thick ringed lacing. Taste follows, but not quite as dynamic but with added pine dimension, malt base is perceptible but lets the hops shine. Nice medium body with moderate carbonation.

Greatly enjoyed, wish I'd bought more.
