clever and exotic witbier type done with marigold (pretty sure this is the first time i have seen that in a beer), and curuba, which i had to look up to learn is a banana shaped passion fruit! insane! at first this turned me off, milky thick white to yellow from the tap with some bubbles but no head and rather poorly refined looking, it has a curious nose, almost stinky at first like a durian fruit, but the more time i spend with this the more i like it, the flavor is weird and kind of addicting, and i ended up being perplexed by this this but also really appreciating it, even if it doesnt score out that well here on BA, the weirdest of the brews we had in here i reckon, although lots of craziness on their menu! once my palate figures it out there is some cool complexity to this built on top of wheat, white wheat malt and maybe some raw wheat too, its really starchy and almost creamy feeling. familiar esters from this yeast, tangerine, lemon soap, white pepper, coriander, some herbal and floral bitterness from the marigold, a weird but cool addition id like to try in a simpler base beer to learn from, and then the curuba, which has some acidity, some fibrous texture somehow to me, and a little tropical flare, lemon, coconut, even vanilla. this makes me want to try the fruit on its own but ive never even seen it in the flesh i dont think. this has some light pucker, a lot of body, almost feels like a milk drink, but has some lemongrassy and key limey notes too, very bright for also being grounded and heavy. fun stuff, not sure i need more than a pint of this at the most, but i respect the effort and the cool ingredients. bizarre and playful and cool!
