Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a slight khaki head that dissipates to patches and disappears with a tiny band of bubble around the glass. Aroma of dark toasted malt, whiskey, cocoa, raisins and mild oak. Flavor is dark toasted malt, milk chocolate, rye whiskey, raisins, dates and oak; a bit boozy. Pleasant chocolatey malt and rye in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Whoa, this is one big stout. As usual, a fine, deep bodied malt fully deserving the Russian imperial stout name. Redolent with rye whiskey that would have overpowered a lesser stout. It shows its 15% at first, but the finish is well balanced and pleasant. The last of the 2020 series, this one has held up nicely and probably needed a year to cool down. These guys have nailed big stouts and I'm very impressed with this one. Could have had a little more visible carbonation for looks, but fine carbonation in the sip.
