Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with one finger dark khaki head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, light coffee and bourbon. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a little biscuit and char, bourbon, dark and milk chocolate, oaky vanilla and faint dark fruit esters which linger in the chocolatey finish. Medium bodied with silky moderate creaminess. Like last year, this series is nicely presented with heavy wax with a seal. I'm drinking them earlier this year, but with a few months on them. I was very impressed last year and this is even better. The body is excellent and creamy and the interaction of the bourbon and malt is very appealing with the noted dark fruit esters faintly in the finish. Great chocolate and vanilla from the barrels. A lovely barrel aged stout that once again can stand with the other near legendary local big stouts. Well worth the price of admission.
