Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, whiskey and cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, whiskey, oak, light cocoa and bakers chocolate and a hint of nuts. Charry, unsweetened chocolate finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Another nice barreled stout from Burke-Gilman. Good barrel character with both oak and good whiskey notes. Body is a bit thinner than some of the other big stouts from this brewery and somewhat less than I'd expect from a Russian imperial stout. Still a solid barreled stout and great slow sipper.
