Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, whiskey, a touch of dark fruit and cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, whiskey, woody oak, light dried plum and cocoa, and bakers chocolate. Charry, unsweetened chocolate finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Another nice barreled stout from Burke-Gilman. Good barrel character with both oak and good whiskey notes. Body is a bit thinner than I'd expect from a Russian imperial stout, but is likely a result from barreling; this reminded a lot of the Chelyabinsk from these guys that I had last year. A solid barreled stout.
