A: we really need to get Cold IPA as a style on here. But I digress. Per my understanding of the style, it's very explicitly supposed to be a crisp clear brew. This one is not. It's not full on hazy, but it's not particularly clear/clean either. It also pours with an impression of viscosity, though I don't think it's ACTUALLY conspicuously viscous (that would be a great album title). Not much head, I had to pour the second half pretty aggressively to even get a little dusting of bubbles. They like to stick around, though!
Nose is pretty mild and is mostly earthy hops. There's a nice caramelly sweet malt base that emerges as it warms a bit. The hops aroma that emerges with warmth is more spicy as well.
The flavour is where this one really shines. Fresh hops burst forth with a nice pleasant bitterness. There's the unmistakable but difficult to describe juicy/nectarous/floral FH character that I crave this time of year that quickly resolves into earthy and herbacious bitterness to the finish. A touch of spice as well, but it's more the earthy/herbacious character. Decent linger.
Not as thick and viscous as the pour made me think about, but a decent sized body, with carpeting pinpricks of carbonation that augment the hops well.
Probably the best FH character I've come across yet this year (this one and the Energy Cone are probably the contenders thusfar).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
