On tap at brewery:
Mocha head forms a solidly medium-plus ring atop the black surface. Initial aromas on a full plastic cup mainly evokes coffee - medium heavy roast cold brew, specifically. Initial taste is as if one added a bit of sugar-in-the-raw to the coffee, though roasty malt bitterness does gain a solid foothold before the end. Feel has a hint of a rubber band tactile nature I associate with oats (more in oat hazy IPAs), enough that I think I’m not imagining it.
Given the vessel, lacing is fair enough. As it warms, there is a mix of nuttiness and dry wood that joins the opening aroma notes. Taste loses a little bit of the sugar from its sweetness, turning a bit more sweetened dark chocolate. There’s a bit of unsweetened cola in the mix as well.
For a standard strength oatmeal stout, this settles in pretty well. It’s a little harder to judge given most oatmeal stout I have are actually imperial stouts with oat, but I feel I can see how those beers might evolve from this one.

A dark malt with minimal head a good taste of a stout that is a little on the strong side but overall good. It isn't super hoppy & the malt is the dominant flavor.
