Pours a slightly cloudy, deep golden coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of doughy, slightly grainy malt and soft notes of estery and hoppy fruit, with notes of apricot and citrus, spruce and freshly mowed grass. Taste is an excellent balance of doughy malt, estery fruit/spice and fruity, bitter and resinous hops, with notes of apricot, gooseberry and citrus as well as hints of clove, peppery spice, grass and pine needles. Finishes with a light tartness amd medium bitterness, as well as some estery fruit and spice and pine needles lingering in the aftertaste. Soft, effervescent mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium/strong carbonation.
This makes for a marvellous hybrid beer that once again shows off Kemker's unique position in the German beer scene impressively. Is it a hoppy Saison? A Farmhouse IPA? It certainly combines these elements very well, with an excellent balance of estery and hoppy notes, light tartness, subtle spiciness and soft, yet distinct resinous accents, finishing with a great bitterness. Light-bodied and easy-drinking, what this lacks in rich character it makes up for with it's subtlety and balance, making for quite a unique and enjoyable hybrid beer that goes down easy on a hot summer day, yet lingers pleasantly on the tongue.
