Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter, red in color with a slightly rusty tinge. Mostly barren surface with a razor thin ring around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
Smell - strong coffee and maple on the nose, with quite a bit of berry tartness riding beneath.
Taste - Strong coffee roast upfront, then the blueberry tartness smacks the tastebuds. As the roast and tartness fades, the maple sweetness emerges and you get a decent balance of all 3 elements in the finish and aftertaste, though the tartness seems to hang in the longest.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Drinks easy enough before a bone dry finish.
Overall - One of the most unique and strangest brews I've had in some time. The coffee shouldn't work with the tartness, and yet it does, because they peak at different times. Not something I could drink daily, or even more than this 8oz pour, but man is it original.
