Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter, crystal clear and golden yellow in color with a mostly barren surface and a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. A small handful of spits and tiny lines make up a minimal lacing.
Smell - Light lemony aroma with hints of bready malt beneath.
Taste - Follows the nose. Lemony and slightly floral hop presence with a bready, slightly grainy malt undertone. Finish adds a touch of grassy bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, crisp drinker with a mostly dry finish.
Overall - Never really cared for IPLs, and this imperial version hasn't done much to change my mind. Its good, but I'd rather try a similar recipe in ale form.
