Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing on Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up 14oz into a stemless tulip, opaque and berry / violet in color with a mostly barren surface. No lacing.
Smell - Cranberries are prominent on the nose, with lesser blackberry, cinnamon and vanilla.
Taste - Follows the nose. Tart, lightly sweet cranberry with lesser blackberry upfront and throughout. Cinnamon comes through mid-taste, along with a toasted, "crust-like" malt backbone. Vanilla really takes off as it rounds the corner to the finish, and it hangs in there with the berry notes as it lingers in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker before a mostly dry finish.
Overall - The latest in their Fresh Out series, and a welcome return. Tasty sour, and a solid addition to the 'Oven' line-up.
